Cable Management for Minimal Desks: Clips, Sleeves, and Under-Desk Trays

Here is an uncomfortable truth: you can own beautiful things and still have an ugly desk, because cables are visual noise machines. The good news is that cable management is a solved problem. It takes one afternoon and about ₹4,000 total.

Step 1: Get everything off the floor

The under-desk tray is the foundation. It mounts to the underside of your desk and holds your entire power strip plus all the cable slack. Once power lives under the desk, everything else becomes easy.

Step 2: Bundle the runs

Multiple cables traveling the same direction should look like one cable. A braided sleeve zips your monitor, laptop and lamp cords into a single clean channel running down the desk leg.

Step 3: Anchor the daily cables

Your phone charger needs to be reachable but invisible. Magnetic clips at the desk edge hold cables in place when not in use — no more fishing a fallen charger from behind the desk.

Step 4: Box what remains

If your power strip cannot go under the desk (renters, glass desks), a ventilated cable box hides it in plain sight. Choose one in a neutral tone that matches your desk and it reads as decor, not equipment.

Order of operations matters: tray first, then sleeve, then clips, then box. Doing clips before the tray means redoing everything twice.
